Dog Scout Badges
The Dog Scout badges are more than just cute little patches. Each badge requires a final test by a DSA certified evaluator before the badge is awarded, so the patches represent a significant amount of training and learning measured by a consistent standard. While pursuing a badge can be fun and rewarding for you and your dog, earning the badges is optional. As a troop member, you are encouraged to learn as much as possible and to teach your dog how to be a welcome member of society. You can use the badge activities as a guide for your training, even if you never intend to get the patch.
Any badge can be earned by any dog with an interest. Part of the fun is discovering that your dog is enthusiastic about an unexpected activity! With over 90 badges to choose from, you are sure to find activities that you and your dog will enjoy together.
Here's a list of the available badge interest areas and just some of the badges in each area. For detailed information on every badge check out the merit badge section of the Dog Scouts of America site.
