Dog Scout Troop 150WHAT SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT DSA TROOP 150?
Troop Officers: Sharon Gruetzmacher Troop Leader (479) 273-1275 Sharon Branyan Co-leader (479) 640-4800 Troop email at [email protected] |
When and Where do you meet?
Our regular meetings are on the third Saturday of each month. Times and places may vary according to the plans for that meeting; for example, we may meet at a park or lakeside for work on outdoor skills, or at an outdoor restaurant or dog-friendly shop for socialization. Often we meet at Pet Emporium in Pea Ridge, Sharon Gruetzmacher's boarding and training facility. Meeting time and place is often posted on this website, but is always confirmed via troop email before the meeting since sometimes we have last-minute changes. If you wish to be added to our email list, even if you aren't ready to join our troop right now, just let us know! Our email list is private, for Troop 150 purposes only.
How much does Dog Scouts cost?
The annual membership fee for the national organization is $25. Additional (human) family members are $5 each. There is an optional $5 "Cadet Scout" registration for your dog before earning the Dog Scout badge. When your dog completes the requirements for the Dog Scout badge, there is a one-time $35 badge fee which includes the official Dog Scout neckerchief. Other badges are $25 each if you wish to register them on your dog's record and obtain the badge patch. Ordering badges is optional, so the only required fee is the annual registration. Complete membership information is available on the national site Dog Scouts of America site.
There are currently no regular troop dues. Occasionally our activities will require a small fee for materials, admission to parks, etc. We make every effort to keep costs low.
May I visit a meeting?
You are welcome to join us for a meeting or two to see if you and your dog would enjoy Dog Scouts. If you are uncertain how your dog will act with other dogs, please let us know in advance so our troop members can allow your dog some time and space to adjust. If you decide to continue with the Troop, joining the national Dog Scouts organization is required.
What do you do at meetings?
We try to plan a variety of activities, including training tips, badge work, participating in local dog events, community education, fundraisers, etc. Troop members are encouraged to become familiar with the activity suggestions on the DSA website and offer suggestions for activities they would like to do. Check out our "Troop Calendar" tab to see some of our past activities and future plans.
